I realize I haven't been posting here for a while. I don't know if it's because I just don't have the time to write down everything that's been bugging me for the last year or so, or if it's that I've so, so much to write or reveal, I am half dreading it! I have so many ideas and so many questions to finally write them out, and I fear that as time goes by, I lose some of my ideas. And so, InshaAllah, with due time, I'll definitely write it all out and share it here, but for the time being, I'll have to paste some entries from my personal blog if they relate to Islam and gender/feminism. These include Islamic feminism / feminist Islam; Gender, Feminism, and Muslim Scholars; Male and Female Scholarship in Islam; and some interviews or articles by Muslim feminists. I also intend to share here much of what I'll be writing for my graduate feminist/gender/women's studies courses this semester (I'm taking two of them), so be on the lookout for that. And I hope not to keep my readers waiting for too long for a new entry, as there have been some complaints. I apologize for that and will try my very best to update this blog more regularly, as I understand its significance and relevance to the lives of many of us today.
So, again, what you can expect this week and the following few days are as follows:
~ Different interpretations and translations of Qur'anic verse 4:34
~ Book review and/or annotated bibliographies of feminist and progressive literature (books and articles) by Muslim scholars
~ Gender, Feminism, and Muslim Scholars
~ An overview of Islamic feminism(s)
~ Hamza Yusuf on women's leading men in prayer
~ Women as hunna (they (f.)) and men as kum (you all (gender neutral)): The Qur'an's audience
~ Muslim Feminist poetry
That said, I hope you'll return to read at least some of these :) I look forward to sharing with you what all I learn as much as I can!
