IS BELCUBES / LAUGHING COW CHEESE HALAL or HARAM

Assalamualaikum..

There is this one thing i started feeling unsure about. It all began when I was about to give Kei her belcubes cheese snacks or more familiarly known as laughing cow cheese. And did you know that in Indonesia some people call it keju sapi ceria? LOL.

This product is widely known in the UK, Canada, and Europe, but not necessarily in the US. There are there different flavors in the every package I have at home, unless you purchase the plain flavored only. I took one first without thinking about what flavor it was. Kei had her first one while I was reading through the ingredients and details all over the package.  I think it’s a French product. There is no Halal from MUI Indonesia stamp on any of the packages. The blue one is plain cheese flavor, the kind of peach colored one says ham, and the orange one is tomato flavored cheese. Kei had the ham flavored cheese, and then three other cubes.

I suddenly thought whether it was halal or not, especially the ham flavored one. So i decided to start googling about it, but there is various information. Some halal certification bodies in different counties say it is halal, but this product isn't listed on Indonesian Halal Certification Body (MUI). It really is confusing. I guess I need to discard the ham flavored cheese cubes, fearing that Kei could just open the fridge and eat all of them.

Oh yeah one interesting I found out. Kei’s new glasses her dad bought her the other day are in the fridge! I asked her to take them out and put them somewhere else, but she refused to do so. She preferred the fridge to be the best place for her pink glasses. Oh my. So when you open our fridge here, you can find eyeglasses among the regular stuff you can find in a fridge, haha.

Still, I have not enough information abut whether this product is halal or not, therefore I think it's better to avoid it for the mean time.
