A MAN WHO LOVES YOU

She said she wanted to get high.
He took her to the tallest hill in town.
She said she wanted to stay up all night and drink.
He gave her a 12 pack of caffeinated Pepsi and said, "drink up."
She said that she wanted to shoot herself in the face.
He gave her a water gun, put her finger on the trigger, and helped her pull the trigger.
She said that she wanted to cut herself.
He took a polaroid (photo) of her, handed it to her along with a pair of scissors, and had her cut it up.
She said that she wanted to see her blood.
He took her to get her ears pierced.
She said that she wanted to cry herself to sleep.
He had her watch a sad, romantic movie before bed.
She said that she wanted to be alone.
He gave her a name tag that said, "My name is Alone."
"Ya Allah, if I am to fall in love, let me touch the heart of someone whose heart is attached to You."
Dear Allah, please grant me a husband who will be the garment of my soul, who will satisfy half of my deen, who will be righteous and always on Your path, who will remind me to pray, who earns money and things from Halal sources, who always refers to Qur'an and Hadith, who uses Sunnah as his moral guide, who is always thankful to You and appreciate the woman by his side, who is always conscious of his anger, who often fasts and prays, who is charitable, who will honor and protect me, who can guide me in this worldly life, who loves me when I am with or without him.

RESEP SUPAYA KETOMBE HILANG SELAMANYA

Assalamualaikum...

            A REMINDER FOR MUSLIM SISTERS

A reminder to take ourselves to account first before we look towards others.
            Taken from  http://www.igotitcovered.org/

I’m standing inside the train, trying to stay steady as the vehicle swerves swiftly across the tracks.  From the periphery, I notice the glances and stares from the mostly Caucasian passengers.  No matter how many times I’ve been through this, I guess I’m still not used to it.
They’re just curious, I think to myself. They’re not judging me. They’re not judging me for what I’m wearing, for how I look to them. They don’t even know me.
And yet, we do this all the time –to each other.
Woah, do you see what she’s wearing?  Those tight jeans show her shape, astaghfirullah and she thinks she’s practicing hijab.
She’s always hanging out with guys, no matter when I see her.  Laughing, flirting, you name it, with the hijab on. You have to stay away from her—she’s a really bad influence.
Um like, doesn’t she know you can’t pray Salaat with nail polish and see-through tights on? Hello?
So I ask: what’s the difference between an observer judging us for being hijabis and a Muslim sister judging another Muslim sister?  If we can’t tolerate non-Muslims judging our religion for being extremist, violent, and all the other derogatory terms we’re fed up with, how come we can tolerate judging our own Muslim sisters?
I remember this one instance years ago when I saw a hijabi talking and laughing with a boy.  I couldn’t help but think ill thoughts of her.  Later I came to know that the boy was actually her brother, though they did not look alike at all.  I narrate this experience to show that we are so quick to judge others, to point out the faults in others without realizing that not only are we committing a very serious sin but more often than not, we may be drawing incorrect conclusions to begin with.
Just like it upsets us when others perceive us as “being forced to wear the hijab” or associated with “terrorists and extremists,” it should disturb us to judge our own fellow Muslims for being “too liberal” or “not following the Sunnah” or “the girl who talks to guys” and whatever else our minds are quick to conjure up.
We should remember that Allah alone is the judge, the Ultimate Judge, because we do not even know an ounce of what a person’s heart contains.  You may look at a sister and think—I am better than her, I pray five times a day, I fast, I don’t talk to guys, I listen to my parents, etc.—while she does the exact opposite.  But does that really make her inferior to you, a weaker Muslim?  How can you be so sure?  All I ask is, who are we to judge when we know so little?
Maybe she repented, cried to Allah for forgiveness the night before and today she has a clean slate.  For all we know, a pile of her small, but abundant amount of good deeds, may have tipped the scale in her favor.
Our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) narrated that “should you become eager to mention another’s faults, recall your own” (Ar-Rafi’i).
So when you perceive others, this hadith should serve as a reminder to reflect upon yourself and to see how you can improve as a Muslim.   Each and every one of us has weaknesses and imperfections so it would be more productive if we would focus on ourselves first.
Well, you might ask, shouldn’t I help my fellow sister out if she’s in trouble?  Well, of course, but you should seek to do so in the best way possible.  Thinking in the aforementioned way and gossiping about these conclusions isn’t going to help anybody.  Make du’a for the sister and sincerely pray to Allah to guide her.  You can take the initiative, approach the sister, and politely inform her of what she is doing incorrectly.  Maybe she will realize her mistake and thank you.  Maybe she might be hurt or angry and tell you not to interfere in her matters.  Either way, it’s up to her now and you have done what you could.  But never think she is any less than you, because again, it is between her and Allah and that relationship is sacred and unbeknownst to anyone else
I remind myself before anyone else.  We’re humans—seeking faults in others comforts us in a way, helps us feel good about ourselves because we think, thank God I’m not like that.  But Islam is what bonds all of us together so we should not be happy when a sister is struggling.  We should pray and remember that all of us are inherently weak but together can strive to become better Muslims, and thus a stronger Ummah.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF BEAUTY?

Let me start with some facts about myself.
Eversince I was in middleschool, I have always been chubby. There was a time when I was thin, that was also because i limited my food consumption and went to gym 4 times a week. And now I am back to being chubby and old :]

As an adult woman, I love pampering myself. However, I also learn to be efficient when doing so.
The fact that I am a jobless single mom has really taught me to live much more efficiently now :] thanks to that.
Each month (when i was still working), around 30% my income goes to beauty products. Face, Body, Hair.
When it comes to products for my face, I couldnt be bothered more. Name..  day cream, cleansing milk, face wash, face mask, night cream, BB cream, blush on, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeshadow, face serum. These are the ones I can remember at the moment.
Body products could include hand & body lotion, soap, perfume, body scrub, body butter, sole cream.
Thankfully, I only use hair shampoo and conditioner for my hair. And I am not a fan of creambath or hairmask.
Since I wear a hijab, I think it matters only for my future husband later on :]
I try to stay at the backstage, never want to be the center of attention only because of how i appear on the outside.

Nevertheless, I am also a woman, and I can not get rid of the tendency to wanting to look pretty whenever and wherever.
When I have extra money, I run into shops looking for discounts on either clothes or beauty products.
The funny thing is, I believe in all those TV commercials and magazine ads.
I believe that in 14 days after using a brand of shampoo, my hair would look like one of those popular singers’ hair.
I believe that when I use this brand of face cream, I would look a few years younger.

Most of these TV commercials objectify women. They use women with big boobs, gorgeous face, long straight hair, etc etc.

Have you seen an Indonesian paint TV commercial? It shows a woman wearing a transparent white dress who is about to sit on a park bench which has just been repainted. The woman is shocked and looks a bit angry, stands up, and starts moving her lower part of the dress and shows her thighs and buttocks?
A few days after it was aired, it was censored.
Another TV commercial in Indonesia, showing two girls, one with a dark skin and the other having a fair skin.
The woman with dark skin seems to get no attention at all, but after using  a whitening face cream, she suddenly gets all the attention from even other women.

The funny & the stupid thing is, I also believe that the more beautiful my face is, the fewer freckles are on my face, and the slimmer I am, and the fairer and whiter skin tone I have, people would see me as a better person. Am I being funny or being stupid? Both I guess.
How could that make sense? Where is the link between being beautiful and how modest and kind we are?

Facts are happening in Korea. Everyone is dying for facial surgeries. Parents even give their children a facial surgery as their 17th year old birthday present. They think there are only two ways of becoming successful in Korea, either with beauty or you must be really smart! Sadly, Koreans are usually born with a square-like face and small slanted eyes. Therefore, facial surgery is always the best option for young Koreans who want to look much more beautiful be better enhanced. Last Miss Korea pageant was  in the news because the judges found it hard to decide on the winner since the majority of the contestants have similar faces.

            But that is the truth.
We go to school, we are fed by tons of type of education, we learn about fiction and non fiction writings. Still, we buy those lies.
Here are some facts about advertising, sexualism, and women

There is only one illness people can never cure, the illness of aging.

Usamah ibn Shuraik narrated that The Prophet pbuh said:
“… ‘O Allah’s Messenger! Should we seek medical treatment for our illnesses?’ He replied: ‘Yes, you should seek medical treatment, because Allah, the Exalted, has let no disease exist without providing for its cure, except for one ailment, namely, old age’.”Tirmidhi

Buy a million dollar cream, and we will still age and eventually die, because our hormones also age.. no matter how hard we try to avoid the phase.
Live in a castle with windows to protect you from sunlight, we will still age.
We will have wrinkles soon, we’ll grey hair on our heads, we’ll get weaker and our body won’t be functioning anymore.
That is called life cycle  When we are babies we are helped a lot, later on when we are adults we help the small ones and the old ones, when we are old we will have to be assisted by the younger ones.

Halal Products / Produk Halal (Better Options, for Me)

            Assalamualaikum..

            Well said post title.
I basically switched to numerous different product brands that promise to be using ingredients that are halal. Why? personally, it has given me the sense of security. I mean, having to imagine that the lotion I am applying to my hands results from fat or oil from worms or swine makes me feel nauseous :p
So months ago, little by little I started purchasing products which were pretty new to me.. Oh just a reminder, most of the information mentioned here applies to products sold in Indonesia.

            1. For hand and body lotion, I am currently using Citra or Vaseline body lotion. It was a bit shocking to find out that the latter brand was actually halal. In the past I often bought various random brands depending on the amount of money I owned, :-)
Vaseline does not use any animal ingredient and alcohol for its fragrance. So it is safe for us moslems. Well actually I have often used Vaseline for many years of my adult life, here's the details.

            2. Shampoo.
This is tough. Before putting on hijab, shampoo was an important part of my monthly shopping list. I am always tricked by those shampoo commercials on TV. Then I found out form some magazine, that for actresses modelling for hair shampoo commercials, they must undergo a series of processes before actually shooting for the commercial. Some processes include: shampooing their hair and applying hair conditioner every single day, hair-creambathing, hair-masking, applying hair vitamin and serum, smoothening, and etc etc.

I once used lots of brands from Sunsilk (either the black or yellow one), Clear, Pantene, TreSemme (this is the best), Dove, Rejoice, HeadnShoulders (this is a temporary brand used only when my head itches or dandruffs pass by).. I can not name more since there are too many of them.
Dove, TreSemme, and HeadnShoulders shampoos have no guarantee that they're pork free.
I have switched to Natur shampoo now, it is halal and it doesn't use any chemical substances in it. Perhaps that is what makes it smell like that.

            3. Face Moisturizer
As an Asian, honestly, I am one of those women out there who wishes to have a fairer skin. Don't judge me wrong, it is natural. Living in Indonesia, when you have dark skin, people see you as having done rough outdoor job and having coming from a low level class. That is the truth. Pathetic, I know.
However, for me, having fairer skin may mean a fresher look on the outside.
I used to purchase Olay or Ponds (any which could whiten or lighten skin-tone) moisturizer regularly.. I wasn't sure whether they're halal or not, I never really thought of it.

I have switched to Ponds Age Miracle now. I still want a fairer skin, but it is not a priority anymore. What i want is what this product promises, a ten year younger looking skin. Sometimes I use Hada Labo as well.
I am certain that aging is an illness that can never be recovered or healed. That is what Rasul said. Women wish to always look young, well at least my skin is moisturized most of the time :-)

            4. Soap..
            Let's start with this fact.
The following bar soaps ---> LUX, DOVE, OLAY, SAFEGUARD, JERGEN, DIAL, LEVER 2000 UNILEVER, ZEST --> No guarantee that Pork is not used. Pork is used when other sources are unavailable.

Now I am using Lifebuoy Barsoap or Shower Cream, only. No more Lux I guess :-)

            5. Make Up.
I have now switched to Wardah for most of my make up needs (eye shadow, sunblock, face powder)

The following have already obtained its Halal Certification from MUI :

            Make Up Routine, haiyyah

Its not the first time I'm doing a make up review like this. Don't think it'll be my last either.
I got the urge of posting something but couldn't think of what. Then suddenly this idea popped out :)
So basically i teach early in the morning. Need to be at work the latest at 7:10.
So I really have to wake up at five to get prepared for everything, including breakfast and making lunch to be brought to the office. (it's more efficient healthier i mean).
What i basically start off with is my hadalabo facewash. Why hadalabo? because it contains pure ingredients. No added alcohol or coloring. Though it kind of smells strange, i can deal with it by holding my breath, hahaha. It used to be imported from Singapore and Japan, and because of which it cost a fortune. Now, it has opened its factory in Bogor area, therefore all the range of Hadalabo products are much more pocket friendly :)
            1.

            2.

I then spread a little hadalabo lotion (the red one for anti aging) all over my face, then tap on it for half a minute probably to make it become easily absorbed. Bear in mind that though it is called lotion, its texture is pretty watery - like toner. However, minutes after using it, my skin feels moisturized and supple.

            3. I continue with Wardah Sunscreen lotion, if necessary. But sometimes i skip this step since I leave work in the morning, i dont really get the sunlight :) After that I go on with the Olay Total Effects or Ponds Age Miracle (either is good on my skin, i purchase the one that's on discount usually). FYI, I've been using olay since I was in college. I trust it all the time, not sure if its halal or not.

            4. When my skin is already dry enough I spread a little of my Face Shop HD BB Cream on the cheeks where my of my freckles are. I have always been embarrassed of these freckles. My mom said that I've had freckles since Middle School. (Some bad effects of the Sun for sure).

            5. Wardah Face Powder is the next step. I dont know what to say about this product. the reason I'm using it is because its halal and affordable. My mom once said i looked better when using my Maybelline two way cake. Of course mom, it costs more, duh.

            6. The other steps include Maybelline mascara, PAC blush, and Sariayu black eyeshadow to fill my spare eyebrows. :)

For my lips, I prefer lipbalm. That's all I can sum up for the review.

            So this is it

Well said. I was absent from work yesterday because I had to do some stuff. One was to look for a school for kei. I have not decided yet though. Last night, while putting kei to bed, i read her a story but then she started calling my nama and crying. She must have had a short bad dream i guess.
OOT, i think i am confident enough to step a little further now. Kei and I do not deserve to be treated like we have been. I know i made a lot of mistakes and am not going to defend myself.
But still, having a bit talk to ourselves may do us good.
Stop blaming other people. My mom especially. She has nothing to do with it. But still, she was sent a letter filled with terrible swear words.
But what have I and kei received so far? None. i am not asking for anything else except being with her.
I am fine with everything. But kei does not deserve this and never will.
As her mother, I will do my best to protect her.
Whether or not it is only a game, this is not a common thing.
Play games behind us, not in front of our families. You are basically embarrassing yourself.
I have no hatred or anger. None. I am not feeling blunt and leaving everything to God.

            Mindslim

Gosh goodness. i am finally able to blog again. i didnt manage to remember the password of my account but now I have it on my phone, in case i suffer from memory injuries again, haha
you know what? i have been doing the whole mindslim mindset again. Together with my new morning routine: green tea. Seriously, green tea makes me feel nauseous. It makes me want to puke. It absolutely cant beat coffee. what I do is: I hold my breath whenever my upper lip is about to open wide to sip a few drips of green tea. Then I keep holding my breath for a few seconds until the smell disappears and it is swallowed perfectly.
Because of mindslim by juli triharto, last year i was able to lose 7 kilos in less than a month, only by programming my subconscious mind. i went back to my fat body because of the lebaran ketupats. blaming others but me, hehee.
However, for the past two weeks I have been back on practising my swimming ability. hasnt shown much improvement but it is okay i guess. Most of the time I take Kei with me. so she can also have fun playing with water while her mom is trying to get rid of her nasty fat.
A week ago i read a blog by tiara, a fitness freak and also a great blogger. She mentioned in one of her posts that there is no need to weigh yourself every day. get rid of the scale. as long as your clothes fit you better, well that is enough to know. and there are also people who gain weight but they look slimmer and fitter. muscles. for sure.
Another thing is that I walk much more often. At the weekends I try to jog for at least 30 minutes. And also I have been consuming red rice now. No more white rice baby, very less nutrition compared to red or brown rice. I mix whatever I cook for lunch, as long as there are more veggies in it. I eat rice once a day. And I drink less coffee (sadly)
i dont see any muscles around me at the moment. Still I can feel that my pants fit me better and I can walk faster now  :p
The reasons why I want to be slimmer is that I want to stay strong, live longer, healthier, look and feel better wearing pretty outfits, and look good when I see myself naked after bath :)

            Temmy's Top Things :-)

            * Maybelline Volume Control mascara.

            * BioCell Stick Foundation.
            * Sayangnya sih Biocell itu susah dicarinya, kalau adapun kadang kehabisan. Jadi saya mensiasatinya dengan BB Cream. Hanya aja, BB Cream untuk saya bagus yang stick, kalo liquid lama nyerep di kulitnya.

            * Sushi Grill Meruya

            * Smartfren Wide Android Phone (saya lupa merknya)

            motherhood

Sekarang kulitnya gak terlalu putih lagi. Agak gelap. Apalagi kalau sehabis mandi..wah kok anakku jadi menghitam begini? hehe.. Apa memang bayi terus berganti warna kulit ya sampai usia keberapa baru warna kulit aslinya keluar, ngga terlalu ngerti sih. Maklum ibu amatir, :)
Anaknya sendiri, saya, sih gak ditanyain duluan hehehee. Begitu mungkin rasanya kalo posisi kita itu nenek atau kakek ya, lama ga mengurus anak kecil jadi kangen sama bau bayi, wangi susu di badannya, kangen mandiin dan mengurus segala macam keperluannya. Yah seperti cari kesibukan juga, selain masak.
Saat ini Kei, lagi sibuk ngobrol sendiri. Tadi saya sempet ngobrol "dewasa" sama dia. Tapi kalo liat ekspresi wajahnya yang memerah mencoba mendorong, lucu sekali, kepingin bantu tapi biasanya cuma saya pijit perutnya pakai minyak telon :D
Bagaimana nantinya yah kalo ada keluhan lain? Bisa-bisa saya panik duluan trus akal jadi gak sehat dan jadi berpikir macem-macem lagi. Tapi ya sudahlah, insting seorang ibu pasti jalan kok..amin :p

            I WANT THESE THINGS

Evening guys, it's after ten pm and my eyes are still wide open. Caffeine I predict :-p

            adorable pac palette
Been looking at lots of you tube videos on how to do your eye make up, and I have been really wanting to have big and dolly and jolly eyes like those Japanese and Korean celebrities. They look so adorable:) So i decided to browse through the net in order to get images of some of the best eye shadow brands in town. I have been using dolly contact lenses, the thing is, sometimes they hurt the upper part of my eyelid. I have been born with small eyes, but not slanted, and because of the dolly eye lenses, some people think that they make my eyes look scary. They just don't fit. Eye shadow may do it better hopefully. I saw PAC advert first, since it's like the number one Indonesian make up brand; it's still affordable but still does your face good!

I haven't had the time to go straight into the mall lately, so i don't know yet how much it can cost me.

            expensive bodyshop
BodyShop is also on my list, but the thing is it's way too expensive, my dear. The last time I bought their product was like three years ago, I purchased the compact powder (IDR 200.000).
even a small palette like the one in the picture can cost me more than IDR 300.000! Id rather buy food and fruit and oatmeal..hahaha..

Anyways, talking about all those how to do your make-up videos on youtube, i have become familiar with some names; one of them is known as xteeener. She has made lots of useful and helpful videos on make-up. Because right now i only wanna focus on my eyes, i dont really spend too much time watching other kinds of videos beside the eye make-up ones..
This one is also one of my favorites...

Your eyes can turn into sexy looking eyes in only a few minutes; well yeah you need to concentrate, and you also have to be patient and that sort of stuff..but i dont care..hahaaha.. what i do care is how i am gonna be able to save some money to get these much faster, good intention, isn't it?

            Night guys ;)
