Assalamualaikum dear blog readers...
It surely has been a while.
Been busy preparing myself for something that's coming ahead on just a few days. ANyways, i hope everyone is healthy, happy, and having a good time today :)
You know what Kei said to me last night while I was with her in our bedroom??
She said, "Mama, there is a man there."
I replied, "What man? Where?"
She responded, "There, pointing to the right corner of the ceiling."
I started feeling uncomfortable, but still I managed to ask another question, "What is he like?"
Kei answered, "The man is scary mom."
Arrrgghh I instantly burst out from the bedroom, leaving her by herself, and talked to my younger cousin who was watching TV in the living room. I was speechless, didn't know what to do.
A minute later, kei followed me and went towards me and started talking about "that man" and I started asking questions about other things she had seen.
Five or ten minutes later, we went back to the bedroom and my mouth started praying and mentioning Allah's name. I took Kei to bed, and my mouth was still busy saying the Ayat Kursi aloud, then continued to the three other prayers I always read before bedtime. Continuously.
It was not my daughter's first time telling me that there are other people around us. It doesn't happen very often either. Kei has ever mentioned that my late aunt was in the room above us while we were ready to sleep, also about a grandmother, that sort of stuff. But the one she mentioned last night kind of made me have goosebumps, i don't know why.
We, Muslims, believe the existence the unseen ones like the Jinn, Shaytan (evil), and also Angels- in Arabic Mala'ika, which means to assist and to help - in Indonesian we call them Malaikat , (but NOT the ones other beliefs characterize them with - in our belief, they are NOT God's children/daughters; they're also Allah's creations instead. Mala'ika / angels are created to worship Allah alone and carry out His commands. It is mentioned in Surah An Nahl (The Bee) - 16: 49-50.
"And to Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant. They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded. "
As unseen creatures made from light, angels have no specific bodily shape but can rather take on a variety of forms. The Qur'an does mention that angels have wings (Quran 35:1), but Muslims don't speculate on what exactly they look like. Muslims find it blasphemous, for example, to engage in making images of angels as cherubs sitting in clouds.
In Islam, there is no concept of "fallen" angels, as it is in the nature of angels to be faithful servants of Allah. They have no free choice to disobey. Unseen beings who do have free choice, and who are often confused with "fallen" angels, are called jinn (demons). The most famous of the jinn is Iblis, who is also known as Shaytan (Satan). Muslims believe that Satan is a disobedient jinn, not a "fallen" angel.
Regarding what my daughter had seen or thought she had seen or the image she made up the story about last night, I am sure it was either a Jinn or Shaytan trying to scare her.
Alhamdulillah she wasn't. I was, a bit. But then I said to myself that why I would have to fear another creation of God, I should be fearing the Creator, Allah only.
I hope Allah always protects my daughter and I and also my dearest ones, amin :]
