Why I Don't Eat Pork

Assalamualaikum, 

Why are muslims not allowed to eat pork? 

First, simple. because it is considered Haram in Islam.

Ayah 173 of surah Baqarah reads:

إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةَ وَالدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ الْخِنزِيرِ وَمَا أُهِلَّ بِهِ لِغَيْرِ اللَّـهِ ۖ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

"He has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of the swine, and that which has been offered to other than Allah. But should someone be compelled, without being rebellious or aggressive, there shall be no sin upon him. Indeed Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful." (2:173)

International Translation :

"He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

Second, because of the way it physically looks and smells and makes sounds when it is alive

Then, because I hate how it happily lathers itself with mud, dirt, and any horrible things we could ever imagine.

Well. Many have tried to persuade me to try some.

Seriously.

Before I decided to put on my hijab, people had always thought of me as being a non muslim. Most say i look more like either a christian/catholic or buddhist. Once said i looked like an indian.

Well. Nothing really bothered or insulted me. They were basically opinions; nothing else.

Why has pork never been in my wanna-try-meal?

Pork comes from pigs, swines, boars, something like that.

They are like a combination of a wild and a tamed animal. They eat both dead animals and also grass at the same time. They have fangs.

They are dirty animals loving to live in filthy areas.

What they do when they see a dead animal? They wait for it until it bercomes a carcass then they will eat it. Pork is eaten almost everywhere eventhough it is seriously a risky and dangerous type of food to be consumed.

Pigs will eat anything including worms, rats, garbage, their own feeces and other pigs. Check this out

Jews believe their God prohibits pork. They know it is not a good type of food.

In Old Testament of the Bible (Leviticus 11), it is also mentioned that pork/swine is not to be eaten. However, it is relatively the opposite in the New Testament. (Why? I don’t know.)

Pigs/swine/boars have a really strong sexual desire. A male pig could actually be humping his “woman” while she is eating grass. And it is also possible for them to still be having sex while they are doing a journey. A male pig can start having sex when it is eight months old.

Pigs grow really fast. When it is born it is usually around 2 kilograms, but when it reaches 6 months old its weight could have gained up to 100 kilograms.

Pigs can also infect human beings with many different diseases. Some viruses that can be spread by them can not be eliminated only by regular grilling or cooking process. One of the biggest concerns with eating pork meat is trichinellosis or trichinosis. Here's why

Perhaps it is still confusing for some people to know that Islam strongly prohibits pork, lets just put it this way.

In the past, before scientists found "bacteria" people didn't believe it existed. But however, it does exist. We wanted to see its "appearance and form." Physically.

Same with us here, believers of the only One God and nothing else, we believe the unseen. Although some things can not be seen with our very own eyes, it does not mean it does not exist. I believe the existence of Allah and that all the commands He tells us in the Holy Book are for our own good.

I am sure He TELLS us to avoid pork, and considers it as Haram because of its so many bad effects to our body, physically and mentally. Thats it.
