Hiyah everybody.
I have just returned from a family gathering, together with mom and daughter. Today I have been a pig. I have been literally consuming anything edible from noodles to cakes.
Being at home can really make me gain weight.
I have no idea on what other ways to make these fats go away.
To be honest, I have nothing to write about. It is just that I want to write without having ideas in my head. Lets talk about my mom and dad for a bit.
My dad (late) was truly a Jakartan. For a Jakartan, we normally call him/her Betawi.
Whereas my mother is half Sundanese and Padangnese (from my late grandfather who was born in West Sumatra).
I and my family have really not been in touch with our Padangnese relatives. We are not very close. Since the death of my grandfather in 1977, everyone has lost track of most of our Padangnese relatives.
Talking about my Betawi traits.
It is out in public that most indonesians view Betawi people as being lazy and are not educated. A lot of Betawi people depend on their land. They basically sell their land ownership or rent it to other people to earn money.
I see it as totally different now. Not all Betawi people are like that anymore. I mean lots of pure Jakartans go to schools and get a high education.
For instance, my brother. He has his Master's Degree from a well known university in Indonesia. And at the moment he is already employed as a public servant. No bribery. To be honest, my brtoher never gave any money to any of those public servants before getting a job there.
Very many other Betawi people have now at least got their undergraduate degree :]
And for the other two cultural traits i have in me.
I am also Sundanese and a bit Padangnese. Although some call me Chinese as well.
Sundanese people have always been considered and called materialistic and are fond of showing off their belongings.
Padangnese people are considered to be stingy. Perhaps it is because when a female from another tribe of Indonesia is getting married to a man who's Padangnese, it is the woman who needs to buy the "man". She and her family are the ones who have to pay for all the expenses needed for their wedding party.
I have no idea where all these stereotypes come from but that is what every Indonesian knows.
You can never believe a stereotype. It is all based on our thoughts.
No need to believe everything I post here :]
